Head of the Organizing Committee Estangue: There Will Be No Discrimination Against Neutral Russians at the Games

The head of the organizing committee of the Olympic Games in Paris, Tony Estangue, spoke about discrimination against Russians and Belarusians at the tournament. His words are quoted by TASS.

“We welcome the delegations of all athletes who have qualified for the Games and who have been approved to participate by the international federations and the International Olympic Committee,” he said. Estanguet added that neutral athletes are given the same access to the Olympic Village as others and there is no discrimination in this regard.

In Paris 2024, 15 Russian athletes will compete in neutral status. These are three cycling representatives, seven tennis players, three canoeists, one swimmer and one trampoline athlete. In addition, 17 Belarusian athletes have been admitted.

At the same time, Russians and Belarusians will not be able to take part in the opening ceremony of the Games. The issue of admission to the closing ceremony will be decided later.
