Serbian Ilic’s transfer to Zenit on the brink of collapse due to Russian government

The transfer of Serbian footballer Ivan Ilic from Italian Torino to Zenit was on the verge of failure due to the Russian government, Sportal reports with reference to La Repubblica.

It is noted that the transfer was suspended by the government due to the high cost of the player. The Kremlin believes that such a large deal could attract unnecessary attention to the country against the backdrop of the current geopolitical situation and sanctions from the European Union.

Earlier, there was information that the deal had already taken place. The transfer amount should be about 25 million euros, including bonuses.

23-year-old Ilic has been playing for Torino since the winter of 2023. In the completed Serie A season, the Serbian footballer took part in 31 matches, scoring three goals and making two assists.
