Barcelona’s new kit breaks records on first day of sales

Barcelona’s new kit, launched on Thursday, broke sales records on its first day in stores. In just three hours, more shirts were bought than during the entire first day of sales of the kit used last season.

As expected, the number 19 shirt worn by youngster Lamine Yamal was the most purchased. In addition to Barcelona’s physical stores, a major boost in sales via the club’s online platform contributed to the historic record. According to the Spanish newspaper Sports worldnever has a Barça shirt sold as much on its first day of sales as this season’s.

Barcelona’s new shirt alludes to the 125th anniversary of the Spanish club’s foundation, which will be celebrated on November 9. Names such as Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Lionel Messi and Carles Puyol were present in the video launching the new model.

Barcelona’s new jersey is already on sale in Brazil, but only in the fan model, priced at 400 reais. On the Spanish club’s website, the player model uniform is already being sold for 150 euros, around 905 reais.
