Vyalbe said she doesn’t care about Isinbayeva’s departure from the IOC Athletes’ Commission
The head of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe assessed the departure of two-time Olympic champion in pole vaulting Elena Isinbayeva from the Athletes’ Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Her words are quoted by Sport24.
Vyalbe expressed her opinion about Isinbayeva’s term expiration with the phrase “I don’t give a damn”, emphasizing that she doesn’t care. She added that the IOC suspended Russia’s membership, so there is no point in discussing it.
It became known earlier on July 19 that Isinbayeva would leave the IOC Athletes’ Commission due to the expiration of her term of office. The IOC had previously conducted an investigation into Isinbayeva. The commission concluded that the former athlete could continue to work for the organization, since she did not support the special operation in Ukraine and did not have a contract with the Russian army or security forces.
Isinbayeva is a two-time Olympic champion in pole vaulting and holds 28 world records in the event. She has been a member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission since 2016.
