FourFourTwo Names Lev Yashin as the Best Goalkeeper of All Time
FourFourTwo has released a list of the 32 best goalkeepers of all time.
The publication recognized Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin as the best. “He was unique, the best Russian footballer of all time and an inimitable world-class goalkeeper,” the article says.
In second place in the ranking is the 2014 World Champion with the German national team, Manuel Neuer. The top three is rounded out by the Englishman Gordon Banks, the winner of the 1966 World Cup.
FourFourTwo previously included Yashin among the most influential footballers in history (49th place). The Soviet athlete also
entered the list of the best players in the history of the World Cup (16th place).
Yashin is the 1956 Olympic champion, five-time USSR champion and winner of the 1960 European Nations Cup. Yashin is the only goalkeeper in history to have received the Golden Ball (1963).
