Russian Kuznetsov, who was placed on waivers, terminated his contract with Carolina
Russian forward Evgeny Kuznetsov has terminated his contract with the National Hockey League (NHL) club Carolina Hurricanes. This was reported on the club’s account on the social network X.
The day before, Carolina placed Kuznetsov on waivers. The team thanked the player and wished him luck. The Russian may sign a contract with St. Petersburg SKA.
In March, Kuznetsov was traded to Carolina from the Washington Capitals. He played 63 games with the team, scoring 24 points. His contract with Carolina was valid until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
In late 2023, Kuznetsov entered the NHL Player Assistance Program. The program works with hockey players suffering from psychological problems, as well as alcohol or drug addiction. In 2019, Kuznetsov was disqualified for using cocaine.
