Kurski had his first marriage annulled. Now he is celebrating another anniversary with his second wife. “This is true love”

Jacek and Joanna Kurscy are celebrating the fourth anniversary of their church wedding. This event in 2020 stirred up quite a few emotions. This is because the Kurskis’ previous church marriages were annulled.

In 2018, Jacek Kurski and Joanna Klimek were married. Two years later, the couple had a church wedding. The ceremony took place on July 18, 2020 at Wawel and aroused huge controversy. This is because Jacek Kurski was married to Monika Kurska until 2015, with whom he had three children. After the divorce, he could not receive the sacrament of marriage in the Catholic rite again. However, thanks to the bishops who annulled his previous wedding, it became possible.

It is no secret that Kurski was married to another woman for 24 years. In 1999, he and his wife Monika met John Paul II. The Pope personally blessed the family. Kurski claimed at the time that it was “the most important day in his life”. However, this did not bother the church hierarchy, who annulled the marriage. Right-wing politicians did not protest against Kurski’s second wedding either. The ceremony at Wawel was attended by, among others, the chairman of PiS – Jarosław Kaczyński. “This is a serious relationship, true love, and the people involved are believers” – this is how Kurski describes his relationship in an interview for “Sieci”.

In the case of Joanna Kurska, it was also her second marriage. Her first husband for many years was Tomasz Klimek. Interestingly, the man worked in an entertainment and design agency responsible for, among other things, organizing “Sylwester Marzeń”. As reported by the media a few months ago, in the years 2018-2023 he earned PLN 3.86 million in TVP.

Church marriage annulments are becoming more frequent

Church divorce, correctly defined as annulment of marriage, is an increasingly common practice. One of the reasons are high-profile, media-covered cases, such as the one of Jacek Kurski. – All this makes people willing to decide on such a solution. They often think: If Kurski got an annulment, why shouldn’t we succeed? – attorney Michał Poczmański.
