Route, profile and timetable of stage 19 of the Tour de France: Embrun – Isola 2000 (144.6 km)
The nineteenth stage of the 2024 Tour de France is going to take place Friday, July 19. It will come out of Embrun and will end at the top of the Island 2000with a route of 144.6 kilometers. The cyclists will start pedaling at 12:20 p.m.and the organization estimates that the winner will conclude between 4:28 p.m. and 5:03 p.m.
It will not be one of the longest stages, but it will be one of the most difficult due to the fatigue accumulated over the three weeks and the difficulty of the route. What’s more, there is a difference of almost 2,000 metres between the lowest and highest point of the stage.
The stage has three mountain passes of great difficulty: two of special category and one of first category. The first obstacle will be at 42 km, the port of Vars of special category (18.8 km at 5.7%). From there, they will go down to Jausiers to begin the climb to Bonettealso of special category (22.9 km at 6.9%), reaching the highest point of the Tour: 2802 meters of altitude. Finally, the stage will end at the Island 2000first category (16.1 km at 7.1%).
If the climbers still have any strength left, this will be one of the last opportunities they will have to stand out. The stage will be watched live on EITB via eitb.eus and ETB4from 2:15 p.m., and in ETB1 from 3:00 p.m.
