American weightlifter Kitts, suspended for doping, to compete in 2024 Olympics
American weightlifter Wes Keatts will compete in the 2024 Olympic Games despite being suspended for doping until August 2. This was reported on the website of the US Weightlifting Federation.
Kitts tested positive for methylhexanamine, a banned substance only in competition, during the World Cup in Thailand in April. Kitts did not take part in the tournament due to injury, but was on the court and the organisers were informed of his decision in advance.
The International Testing Agency (ITA) ruled that Keatts’ actions were unintentional and handed him a one-month suspension from July 3. The American will therefore be able to compete at the Paris Games, as the 102-kilogram competition will take place on August 10.
The Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
