There are more and more indications that he will cease to act as the coach of the Polish national team before the March play-offs for promotion to the World Cup. The Portuguese coach asked the Polish Football Association to terminate the contract by mutual agreement due to the tempting offer from Flamengo. President Cezary Kulesza did not accede to Paulo Sousa’s request.

As it turns out, he wasn’t surprised at all by the call from Paulo Sousa. – While reading reports in the media, I already knew that there was something wrong, because our editors probably also contact journalists from Portugal or Brazil. In the end, I saw that coach Sousa is starting to text me, one, the other that he needs a conversation – said the president of the Polish Football Association in an interview with the portal.

– He wrote to me on Saturday, and we had the first contact by phone on Sunday. I already had a feeling that he was calling on this subject, because what else? If he wanted to make Christmas wishes, he would have done it earlier, and not only on the second day of Christmas, when the holidays are already ending – added Kulesza.

In turn, in an interview with Cezary Kulesza, he revealed that Sousa has not talked to the players so far. – I think he is a serious man … Although maybe not entirely. As far as I know, he didn’t talk to the players. He just wanted to talk to me. I had already guessed what was going on. However, he did not tell me with which club he is getting along, but that it is one of the best clubs in the world – the president revealed.

There has already been information that one of the potential successors of Paulo Sousa is Adam Nawałka, who has even expressed his readiness to talk with the Polish Football Association. – Roman, you know me, I would never refuse the representation – the former Polish coach who led the team to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.

Kulesza, however, distances himself from all speculation, adding that Sousa is still the coach of the Polish national team. – No, we are not talking to Adam Nawałka. I haven’t had any contact with anyone yet, to be clear. I’m not looking for anyone, I would break rules that I can’t break. When the contract is terminated, I will be able to talk to other candidates – emphasized the president of the Polish Football Association, who had not yet thought about who to replace the Portuguese. – I don’t know who I want, because so far I don’t have such thoughts. I have time, Sousa has no time. He probably has to sort this out to start working in Brazil. Looking from our perspective, the Polish national team has a little more time than Paulo Sousa – revealed Kulesza.

Regardless of the decision regarding the potential successor of Paulo Sousa, the task ahead will be very difficult. In March, the Polish national team will compete in the play-offs for the World Cup in Qatar. Before that, he will not have time to test any of the players during friendly matches.
