France to complain to FIFA about Argentina team over racist songs
The French Football Federation (FFF) will file a complaint with the International Football Federation (FIFA) over a racist song sung by Argentina national team players, L’Equipe has learned.
During their celebrations of the Copa America victory, Argentines chanted offensive slogans that fans had previously chanted during the 2022 World Cup. They mocked the African origins of the French national team players, in particular Kylian Mbappe.
A fragment of the song was included in a live broadcast on social networks by Argentina national team midfielder Enzo Fernandez. After a few phrases, the footballer ended the broadcast.
Argentina beat Colombia 1-0 in extra time in the 2024 Copa America final. France were eliminated in the semi-finals of Euro 2024. The teams met in the 2022 World Cup final, where Argentina won on penalties.
