“It is with deep regret that we received the news that Ewa Ciepiela has passed away today – a wonderful stage, film and television actress, associated with the Stary Theatre in Kraków since 1967,” her colleagues from the Kraków theatre said in a statement on July 16.

“For over 30 years she has created unforgettable roles in plays by the most outstanding Polish directors: Konrad Swinarski, Andrzej Wajda, Jerzy Jarocki, Jerzy Grzegorzewski, Krystian Lupa, Zygmunt Hübner, Bogdan Hussakowski. The last time we could admire her was in the plays: ‘Auto da fé’ directed by Paweł Miśkiewicz (2005) and ‘Sejm kobiet’ directed by Mikołaj Grabowski (2007). She has created outstanding roles in almost 40 television theatre plays, and on the big screen she could be admired in 14 films” – they list.
Ewa Ciepiela was born on August 19, 1941. She was a graduate of the State Higher School of Theatre in Kraków. Viewers remember her for her role as Ewelina in “Janosik”, although her professional life was primarily connected with the theater. She also played in “Z końca lat, z bieg dni…”, “Zaklęte rewiry” and the film “Karol. Człowiek, który papieżem”.
