Promes wanted to return to Spartak so that he would not be extradited to the Netherlands
Footballer Quincy Promes wants to return to Spartak. This is reported by the Telegram channel Mash.
According to the athlete’s friends, he became depressed after the Red-Whites terminated his contract on July 1. Promes is counting on returning to the Russian club, because in that case he will not be extradited to the Netherlands.
The footballer posted it on Instagram (a social network banned in Russia; belongs to the Meta company, which is recognized as an extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation) a video compilation of the best moments in Spartak. It is noted that in this way he wants to put pressure on the club’s management. At the same time, the team is not ready to talk about the contract at the moment.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai airport for causing an accident and leaving the scene. Two weeks later, the footballer was arrested at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office for possible further extradition. He currently remains in the UAE.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison in his home country for attacking his brother with a knife.
