Sevilla announce loan signing of Arsenal’s Lokonga

Sevilla announced on Monday morning the loan signing of Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, with an option to buy him permanently. The 24-year-old Belgian will remain with the Spanish side for at least one season.

In 2023/24, the athlete was loaned to Luton Town, who finished 18th in the English Championship and were relegated. The midfielder suffered from some injuries and missed a large part of the season. In total, he played just 19 games, scored one goal and provided three assists.

Lokonga joined Arsenal in 2021 after excelling at Anderlecht in Belgium. However, he was not as successful in Mikel Arteta’s team and failed to establish himself in the team.

With little playing time at the Gunners, he was loaned to Crystal Palace at the beginning of 2023. In the first games, the Belgian was a starter, but lost his place in the squad and was not even used in the last rounds of the Premier League that year.

Now, in Spanish football and at Sevilla, Lokonga is trying to recover the good performance he showed in his country.
