ESPN: Copa America final start delayed by an hour due to unrest
The start of the Copa America final between Argentina and Colombia in Miami was delayed by more than an hour due to unrest, ESPN reports. Fans broke through one of the main entrances to the stadium.
“In anticipation of today’s Copa America final, thousands of fans without tickets attempted to force their way into the stadium, putting other fans, security personnel and law enforcement at great risk. Security closed the gates to control the entry process much more slowly and ensure everyone’s safety,” the arena’s press service said.
The match started at around 4:20 Moscow time.
Earlier, the Uruguayan team won bronze at the Copa America, defeating the Canadian team in the match for third place.
