Fans try to invade the stadium for the Copa América final, and Argentina vs Colombia is postponed by half an hour

The 2024 Copa América final between Argentina and Colombia has not yet started, but there has already been chaos around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, United States, where the final will be played. As the gates opened, fans tried to invade the stadium and had to be detained by police.

There was a lot of confusion in the queues to access the stadium. Some fans even tried to steal press credentials and were arrested. Others were successful and managed to enter the stadium. Some of those arrested were left covered in blood.

As a security measure, the stadium gates were closed for a few minutes, including press access. The invasion was then contained, and the gates of the Hard Rock Stadium were reopened.

Due to the confusion outside, the match between Argentina and Colombia had to be postponed for half an hour. The game was scheduled to start at 9 pm (Brasília time), but should start at 9:30 pm.

La Albiceleste, led by Messi and co., could become the tournament’s greatest champion if they win it for the second time in a row. Los Cafeteros, in turn, are looking to lift the trophy for the second time – the last (and only) was in 2001, 23 years ago.
