US President Joe Biden has cancelled his trip to the Paris Olympics
US President Joe Biden has refused to travel to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, RIA Novosti reports, citing the White House.
The White House said Biden has delegated his wife, Jill Biden, to open the competition. Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, Douglas Emhoff, will attend the closing ceremony.
The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians have been admitted to the competition as individual neutral athletes. Individual representatives of tennis, cycling, trampoline jumping, canoeing and swimming have confirmed their participation in the tournament.
Some Russian athletes refused to participate in the Games, despite receiving invitations from the International Olympic Committee. This decision was made by wrestlers and judokas.
