Manchester United announce renewal of experienced English defender

Manchester United announced on Friday the renewal of the contract of English defender Jonny Evans. The athlete signed for another season with the Red Devils.

“I am delighted to have extended my contract with Manchester United for another season. Playing for this great club and feeling the support of our incredible fans is always a privilege,” said the defender.

At 36, Evans is the club’s second most experienced player, behind only goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who is 38. Last season, the defender returned to the team after eight years away, during which he played for West Bromwich and Leicester. In total, he played 30 games in 2023/24 and won the FA Cup.

“Returning to the club last season was an honour; representing the team on the pitch alongside fantastic team-mates and under an excellent manager. Winning the FA Cup together was an unforgettable experience. I know we can challenge for more trophies next season,” he said.

Revealed in the Red Devils’ youth ranks, Jonny Evans has won several titles with the club: a Champions League, three English Championships, a World Cup, an English League Cup, an English Cup and three English Community Shields.
