Former Russian national team player and Sibir coach Tarasenko dies at 55
Former Russian national hockey team player and Sibir coach Andrei Tarasenko has died at the age of 55. This was reported on the team’s website.
“The Sibir hockey club expresses its deep and sincere condolences to the family and friends of Andrei Vladimirovich,” the statement reads. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
In addition to Sibir, Tarasenko played for Novosibirsk SKA, Yaroslavl Torpedo, Tolyatti Lada, Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo and Kazakhstan Kazakhmys. He played for the national team at the 1994 Olympic Games and the 1995 World Championship.
The specialist has worked on the coaching staff of Sibir since 2008. Tarasenko is the father of two-time Stanley Cup winner (as part of the St. Louis Blues and Florida Panthers) and forward for the National Hockey League club Detroit Red Wings Vladimir Tarasenko.
