Van de Beek had been at Manchester United since 2020, when the English club paid, according to the Sports worldapproximately R$259 million to take him from Ajax, in Holland, where he was revealed.
The midfielder gained prominence throughout the four seasons he played for the Dutch team, especially in 2018/2019, when he was a key player in Ajax’s campaign to the Champions League semi-finals, scoring goals in the quarter-finals against Juventus and in the semi-finals against Tottenham.
However, Van de Beek was unable to replicate the level of performances he had at Manchester United and lost his place in the squad, having spent periods on loan with Everton in England and Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany last season.
In total, he played just 62 games for United, scoring two goals and providing two assists. At Ajax, he played 165 games, scoring 40 goals and providing 32 assists.
