Tarasova on ROC payments to athletes: no money will replace participation in the Olympics

Honored figure skating coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova spoke about the payments to Russian athletes for not being allowed to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games. Her words are quoted by Match TV.

“No amount of money can replace participation in the Olympics. But still, payments are better than nothing,” Tarasova said, calling the amount of compensation normal.

Earlier it became known that the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) paid compensation to domestic athletes who were suspended from participation in the Summer Games in Paris. 245 athletes received the funds.

In October, the head of the ROC Stanislav Pozdnyakov revealed the amount of payments to participants in the Olympic Games of different years who are currently active athletes. “500 thousand rubles will be paid to gold medalists, 350 thousand rubles to silver medalists, and 250 thousand rubles to bronze medalists. 150 thousand rubles will be paid to participants in the Olympic Games,” he noted.

The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians were allowed to compete as individual neutral athletes.
