England, runners-up last year Eurocupwill have a new opportunity in this 2024 edition, after defeating the Netherlands 2-1 this Wednesday (10), in the semi-final in Dortmund, Germany, becoming Spain’s opponent in the grand final on Sunday, in Berlin.
The Netherlands, European champions in 1988 when their current coach Ronald Koeman was a player on the team, will have to wait another four years to dream of their second continental title again.
“In the last twenty minutes I thought we were going to do it. And then they scored, right at the end. I have confidence in the future of this team. We can do more,” Koeman told British television channel ITV Sport.
Since their only title 36 years ago, the Dutch have reached the semi-finals on four occasions (1992, 2000, 2004 and now 2024) and have failed to reach the final.
