Barcelona have rejected a €250 million (£300 million) offer from Paris Saint-Germain for young striker Lamine Yamal, according to the news agency. EFE. If the transfer were to go through, it would become the biggest in football history, surpassing that of Neymar, bought by the Parisian team for 222 million euros (around 812 million reais at the exchange rate at the time).
According to the source, the offer was not even considered by the Catalan board, led by sporting director Deco. The Brazilian, who has naturalized Portuguese, was the one who led the renewal of the 16-year-old during last season. The right winger’s contract is valid until 2026, with the possibility of extension until 2028, and has a release clause of 1 billion euros (R$5.84 billion).
Yamal is seen as non-transferable and one of the leaders of the club’s sporting project. The Catalan team is also betting on other promising youngsters from the youth team, such as defender Pau Cubarsí and right-back Héctor Fort. In addition to them, Barça has more youngsters in the squad, such as midfielders Fermín López, Gavi and Pedri, and forward Ansu Fati, who is returning from a loan spell at Brighton.

Despite his young age, Lamine is one of the key players in Spain’s run to the finals at the European Championship. The striker scored a stunning goal from outside the box on Tuesday to level the semi-final against France, which ended 2-1 to the Spanish side. In total, he has played six games, scored one goal and provided three assists in the tournament.
Last season, he also became a regular starter for Barcelona. In total, he played 50 matches, scored seven goals and provided ten assists.
