Deputy Zhurova allowed Russian tennis players to win Olympic medals
Olympic champion, first deputy chairperson of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Svetlana Zhurova spoke about the chances of Russians for Olympic medals in Paris. In a conversation with Lenta.ru, the athlete suggested that Russian tennis players could win medals at the 2024 Olympic Games.
“Not all [спортсмены, из допущенных к Олимпиаде] expressed a desire to go. The tennis players have not yet answered whether they are going there or not. Therefore, at least to know what the composition is, then we can assume how many medals there will be,” Zhurova said.
I understand that, apart from tennis players, as I initially said, it is unlikely that anyone else will go there.

“Tennis players perform quite well at all international competitions. So, of course, there may be one or two medals here. The only question is: will they be gold? After all, tennis is not a very simple sport,” the deputy concluded.
The Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians are allowed to compete as individual neutral athletes. Some of the invited athletes have refused to participate in the Olympics. Wrestlers and judokas have already made this decision.
