“We are very excited, we deserve it. The final is ours, 100% ours. We are the best team in the whole Euro,” said Ángela Vicente, a 22-year-old student wearing a Spain shirt.
Thousands of people gathered in front of the big screen on the banks of the Manzanares River, where they celebrated with shouts and hugs each of the two goals scored by their team, which beat France 2-1.
Lamine Yamal’s goal, a 25-meter shot into the top corner of goalkeeper Mike Maignan’s net to level the score at 1-1, was celebrated by the euphoric crowd, jumping and shouting and even lighting flares, according to AFPTV footage.
