Russian tennis player Anna Kalinskaya withdraws from Wimbledon 2024 due to injury
Russian tennis player Anna Kalinskaya has withdrawn from her match against Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina in the 1/8 finals of Wimbledon 2024, which is taking place in London. This was reported on the tournament’s website.
The reason was Kalinskaya’s injury. In the first set, with the score 3:4, the athlete took a medical timeout due to a wrist injury. The match ended with a score of 6:3, 3:0 in favor of Rybakina. The match lasted 53 minutes. Kalinskaya remained the last tennis player to represent Russia at Wimbledon.
In the quarter-finals of the tournament, Rybakina will play the winner of the match between Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina and China’s Xinyu Wang. The Wimbledon prize fund is £50 million.
Earlier it became known that Kalinskaya received an invitation to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris from the International Olympic Committee. It was later reported that the Russian woman refused the offer.
