Bayern forward Sané undergoes surgery after Germany’s Euro 2016 exit

Bayern Munich announced on Monday that striker Leroy Sané had undergone groin surgery. The player was playing for Germany in the European Championship, which was eliminated last Friday.

“After Germany’s elimination from the European Championship, Leroy Sané underwent a minimally invasive procedure on his groin in Munich on Monday,” the Bavarian club wrote on social media.

Bayern Munich’s squad will report to training on July 15 to begin preparations for next season. Sané will miss the start of training and is expected to join the group at the end of the month.

According to the German team, the 28-year-old striker has been suffering from the injury since the end of the season. At the European Championship, he played in all five of Germany’s games, starting twice.

Last Friday, the German team lost to Spain, 2-1, in the quarter-finals, and was eliminated.
