Russian footballer refuses to transfer to French club

Lokomotiv captain Barinov refused to move to French Metz

Lokomotiv captain and midfielder Dmitry Barinov refused to transfer to the French club Metz. His words are quoted by Sport24.

Barinov said that Metz and Alaves had shown interest in him. “I immediately turned Metz down: the guys were relegated to Ligue 2 last season – I probably deserved more,” the midfielder explained his decision.

Barinov is the champion of Russia, three-time winner of the Russian Cup and winner of the Russian Super Cup. As part of the Russian national team, the footballer won the 2013 European Youth Championship.

Several Russian footballers play in European championships. Among the most famous are Aleksandr Golovin, representing Monaco, Aleksey Miranchuk, playing for the Italian Atalanta, Daler Kuzyaev for the French Le Havre, Arsen Zakharyan for the Spanish Real Sociedad, and Aleksandr Kokorin for the Cypriot Aris.
