Cyclist Julien Bernard fined for kissing wife at Tour de France
French cyclist Julien Bernard of the Lidl-Trek team has been fined for kissing during the seventh stage of the Tour de France, the BBC reports.
According to the source, the stage route was not far from the athlete’s home, so friends and relatives came out to support him on the track. When the racer overcame the climb, his friends ran out to him with signs with words of support, and his wife kissed Bernard.
For this, the rider was fined 200 Swiss francs (approximately 205 euros). He was accused of inappropriate behavior during the race and damaging the image of the sport. The cyclist apologized for his actions. “For moments like these, I am ready to pay a fine every day,” he said.
During the 2023 World Cup awards ceremony, former head of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales kissed Spanish national team player Jennifer on the lips. After this, the Spanish prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit against Rubiales. The former head of RFEF was charged with sexual violence and coercion. In addition, the disciplinary committee of the International Football Federation suspended Rubiales from football activities for three years.
