The head of the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF) Vladislav Tretyak spoke about sports in the USSR. His words are quoted by Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Tretyak described the hockey team’s training with the phrase “they didn’t give us water.” He said that the hockey players trained at 12 o’clock in the afternoon under the scorching sun, and the athletes were not given water to drink. According to the head of the FHR, this led to illnesses among the Soviet hockey players, which caused them to die very early.

Tretiak is a three-time Olympic champion and ten-time world champion, an honored coach of Russia. Since 2006, he has been the president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation.

Earlier, the president of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation and head coach of the national team Irina Viner spoke about changes in the legislation in the field of physical culture and sports in order to avoid the outflow of athletes abroad. She proposed returning sports to the way they were in the USSR.
