England midfielder Jude Bellingham will be able to play in Saturday’s Euro 2024 quarter-final against Switzerland despite being handed a one-match conditional ban on Friday. The Real Madrid player was handed the ban for a controversial gesture after scoring his goal against Slovakia in the round of 16.
In a statement, UEFA added that Bellingham will be fined 30,000 euros (around R$ 178,300 at the current rate) and suspended for “one UEFA competition match in which he is entitled to play for violating the basic rules of decent conduct. This suspension does not apply immediately and is subject to a probationary period of one year, starting from the date of this decision.”

Bellingham was seen putting his hand to his genitals, apparently looking towards the Slovakia bench, after his spectacular overhead kick goal that saved England from an early exit from the Euros in stoppage time.
UEFA’s decision therefore allows the player to play in the quarter-final match against Switzerland on Saturday in Dusseldorf at 1pm (BrasÃlia time), where he would normally start. England are still seeking their first European Championship title.
