Scientists have discovered the benefits of exercise for the nerves of cancer patients

Neuromuscular training has been shown to benefit nerves during chemotherapy

Scientists from the University of Basel in Switzerland conducted a study and found the benefits of neuromuscular training for cancer patients. The results of the experiment were published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine.

A total of 158 cancer patients took part in the study. They were divided into three groups. The first group received standard care. The other two groups performed physical exercises twice a week for the entire course of chemotherapy. One of these groups performed balance exercises on an unstable surface, the second trained on a vibration platform.

The results showed that over the next five years, about twice as many participants in the first group experienced chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, suggesting that neuromuscular exercises prevent nerve damage during the procedure.

Earlier, fitness trainer Elena Belyaeva said that it is recommended to refrain from cardio training in case of oncological diseases. People with severe cardiac disorders and exacerbation of chronic diseases should also stop this type of exercise.
