Spain vs Germany: Check out the likely lineups and where to watch the Euro Cup clash

The quarter-finals of the European Championship begin on Friday. Hosts Germany will face Spain at the Mercedes-Benz Arena at 1pm (Brasília time) in Stuttgart.

Where to watch: Globo, SporTV e Premiere broadcast the match.

The Germans come into the match having faced their biggest challenge so far in the competition. So much so that coach Julian Nagelsmann sees both teams as contenders for the title.

“It’s one of the most important games, without a doubt, but our preparation has been the same. Everything remains the same. It has nothing to do with superstition. It’s not a final, it’s a quarter-final. We want to be one of the teams in the semi-finals. Spain also want to be champions, so it will be a tough game. Both teams are good in possession and have good counter-attacking qualities, they can put their opponents under pressure. It will be important to resolve many one-on-one situations,” he said.

Germany came into this match having easily beaten Denmark, while Spain came from behind to beat Georgia in the round of 16.

The Spanish are on a roll in the competition. The team is the only one to have won all of its games in this European Championship. Striker Nico Williams highlighted that Spain did not arrive at the Euro as one of the favorites. The player advocated staying focused in each match.

“I don’t think anyone outside our group was predicting much for us before the Euros. We weren’t favourites. We don’t care about maintaining a level day after day, but we are here to do something important,” he declared.

Whoever wins will wait for their opponent in the match between Portugal and France.
