Russian tennis player dissuaded from going to Olympic Games

Tarpischev said that someone dissuaded tennis player Kalinskaya from going to the Olympics

The head of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) Shamil Tarpishchev spoke about Anna Kalinskaya’s decision to skip the 2024 Olympic Games. His words are quoted by TASS.

Tarpischev said that someone talked Kalinskaya out of going to the Games, and he regrets her decision. “She was very upset when Mirra Andreeva overtook her in the rankings after the French Open and she did not get to the Olympics. And then suddenly, when everything worked out, she didn’t want to go. In two weeks, her opinion changed dramatically,” the head of the RTR said, adding that the athlete could have played well in Paris.

On June 29, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) published a new list of Russians allowed to participate in the 2024 Games, consisting of eight athletes. Kalinskaya was on it.

The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians are allowed to compete as individual neutral athletes.
