Germany midfielder Gundogan praises Spain ahead of Euro clash: ‘They’re the best team so far’

Germany midfielder İlkay Gündogan has analysed the Euro 2019 quarter-final clash with Spain and has called the opposing team the best in the tournament so far. The teams will take to the field this Friday at 1pm (Brasília time) at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

“They are the best team in the tournament so far. I like their style. I have always been a big fan of having a lot of possession. But we will see how they react when we also have the ball for a while,” he said in an interview with the newspaper. AS.

Gundogan also spoke about how to stop Spain wingers Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal. The forwards are the stars of the tournament with their dribbling and speed.

“We can only stop them as a team. We must also force them to play defensive roles. But yes, both of them have been magnificent during this tournament. It will be crucial for us to know how to stop them,” he said.

The midfielder also spoke about what it’s like to play in the Euros alongside German fans.

“So far everything has been very positive for the team. The fans are supporting us a lot and we don’t have any disturbing factors around us. Everything is very focused.”

Finally, Gundogan had high praise for attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala and considered him the best player in the German national team and a candidate for major awards in the future.

“Technically, he is the best player we have at the moment. I could talk about Jamal and the Ballon d’Or in the future, but I don’t want to put pressure on him. He knows what he is capable of, as do our team and our coach. I also really like him as a human being. He is humble and a very nice guy. I can only say positive things about him,” he concluded.
