Brazil’s rival Colombia defends 25-match unbeaten run

Despite not having suffered a defeat in his two years in charge of the Colombian national team, Néstor Lorenzo ruled out being the favorite for the duel against Brazil at Levi’s Stadium on Monday. Tuesday’s game is for the lead in Group D of the America Cup.

Colombia’s unbeaten run is now at 25 games, but the order of the day is to keep their feet on the ground. “You’re never the favorite against Brazil, we’re going to do our best to be up to the task,” the Argentine coach said in the press conference before the game.

In the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, the Liverpool striker scored both goals in the comeback victory over Brazil 2-1, in November last year, in Barranquilla.

This victory increased Colombia’s confidence, which since then has won the nine games it has played, including qualifiers, friendlies and the Copa América.

“These are teams with a lot of history and we are just beginning to write some pages of this history that Colombia has, which is very good but we want to improve it,” said the coach.
