Tennis player Andrey Rublev bruises his knee with a racket during a Wimbledon match

Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev scraped his knee with a racket until it bled during his first-round match at Wimbledon 2024 against Argentina’s Francisco Comesana, RIA Novosti reports.

The incident occurred in the third set after the Russian athlete lost his serve. The score became 6:4, 5:7, 4:1 in favor of Comesanha. Rublev began to hit himself on the left knee and broke it. After that, the tennis players left the court due to rain. The match has not yet resumed.

In November 2023, Rublev hit himself several times with his racket during his match at the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour Finals against Carlos Alcaraz (5:7, 2:6). The Russian hit himself in the leg, causing his knee to bleed.

Rublev is ranked seventh by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and is the 2020 Olympic mixed doubles champion.
