UEFA opens disciplinary case against Jude Bellingham
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has opened a disciplinary case against England national team player Jude Bellingham. This was reported on the organization’s website.
The union will conduct an investigation into the player’s obscene gesture in the Euro 2024 round of 16 match against Slovakia. The player grabbed his groin and, presumably, addressed the Slovak footballers. Bellingham himself noted that the gesture was a joke that he addressed to close friends in the stands.
Bellingham is England’s most expensive player in the current tournament, with Transfermarkt estimating his value at €180 million.
The attacking midfielder in the match against Slovakia equalized the score in the last seconds of added time with an overhead kick and sent the game into overtime. There the British distinguished themselves once again and reached the quarterfinals.
