Tarpishchev announced ongoing problems with the admission of Russians to the 2024 Olympics
The head of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFF), Shamil Tarpishchev, spoke about the participation of Russians in the 2024 Olympic Games. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Tarpishchev announced ongoing problems with the admission of Russians to the Games in Paris. “At the Olympic Games we do not participate in the team competition; neutral athletes compete in extremely limited numbers,” he noted, adding that athletes bear a large burden of responsibility in an extremely difficult political environment.
The head of the FTR also explained the principle of forming the composition of the Russian Olympic team. “This time we agreed that those who participated and won medals in Tokyo will not compete at these Games, the youth team will play,” Tarpishchev emphasized.
Earlier, the RTR announced that Daniil Medvedev, Aslan Karatsev, Roman Safiullin, Pavel Kotov, Mirra Andreeva, Ekaterina Aleksandrova, Diana Schneider and Veronika Kudermetova would perform at the Olympics. At the same time, only Medvedev, Safiullin, Kotov, Aleksandrova and Andreeva have received permission from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) so far.
