Tampa Bay trades two-time Stanley Cup winner Mikhail Sergachev to Utah
The National Hockey League club Tampa Bay Lightning has traded Russian defenseman Mikhail Sergachev, who won the Stanley Cup twice with the team, to Utah. This was reported on the Lightning website.
Sergachev, 26, will continue his career with Utah, which will debut in the NHL in the 2024/25 season. In exchange, Tampa received defenseman Janis Moser and forward Conor Geekie, as well as two draft picks.
Sergachev has played for Tampa for the past seven seasons. In total, the Russian has played 575 games in the club’s sweater, scoring 57 goals and making 234 assists. He won the Stanley Cup with the team in 2020 and 2021. In addition to the Lightning, the defenseman represented the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL.
The upcoming season will be Utah’s first in the NHL. The club will replace the Arizona Coyotes in the league.
