Russians Kucherov and Panarin won their positions in the journalists’ vote
Russian hockey players Nikita Kucherov and Artemy Panarin have been included in the symbolic team of the National Hockey League (NHL) stars. This was reported by the official website of the league.
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Kucherov received 187 of 187 first places in voting for the best right winger. This result has not been seen for 22 years, since Jerome Iginla also received 100% of first places in 2002. At the same time, Kucherov lost to Nathan MacKinnon from the Colorado Avalanche in the fight for the most valuable player of the season award – the Hart Trophy.
New York Rangers forward Panarin was chosen as the best left winger by 185 of the 187 journalists who voted. Third place in this position was taken by another Russian – Kirill Kaprizov from the Minnesota Wild.
Kucherov scored 144 points in the NHL last season and set a new record for Russian hockey players in the history of the league in terms of points and assists. Panarin had the most productive season in NHL history among 32-year-old players in the 21st century. He scored 120 points, the best result of his career.
