Russian pentathlete spoke about the functionaries who prevented her from getting to the Olympics

Pentathlete Batashova said that functionaries from the FSPR prevented her from getting to the Olympics

Pentathlete Ulyana Batashova spoke about how functionaries from the Federation of Modern Pentathlon of Russia (FSPR) prevented her from getting to the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. Her words are quoted by Sports.ru.

According to the athlete, people from the leadership of the FSPR were spreading false information about her having a contract with the law enforcement agency. “Starting the road to the Olympics, I could not even imagine that I would encounter such fierce resistance,” Batashova said.

The Russian woman added that after receiving neutral status, FSPR executive director Eduard Zenovka began calling the regions she represents and demanding that they not support her there. “Nonsense. An athlete of the Russian national team, the only one trying to get a license and compete for a medal at the Olympic Games, becomes an outcast in her federation,” Batashova noted.

The pentathlete received neutral status on April 11. Batashova was unable to qualify for the Games, she did not have enough ranking points.
