Coach Makushin accused neutral pentathlete Batashova of violating Russian laws
Russian national team coach Andrei Makushin accused pentathlete Ulyana Batashova, who received neutral status, of violating Russian laws. His words are quoted by Sports.ru.
Makushin stated that Batashova, being an ensign of the Russian Guard, signed a document from the international federation condemning the SVO in Ukraine. He emphasized that the athlete risks being brought to administrative or even criminal liability.
Earlier on April 23, Batashova announced that she had decided to participate in the 2022 Olympic Games in Paris, so she submitted papers for neutral status. She said that after this the Russian Modern Pentathlon Federation fired her from the team.
Makushin later explained why Batashova was deprived of her salary after receiving neutral status. He said that the athlete lost her place in the Russian national team because she did not show good results.
