Efimova to be denied Olympic wild card

Yulia Efimova will be denied a wild card for the 2024 Olympics

Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova will be denied a wild card to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. This was reported to TASS by the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics).

The organization stated that such a possibility is not provided. According to a representative of the World Aquatics press service, a ticket to the Games can only be obtained by fulfilling the qualification standard.

Earlier it became known that Efimova failed the selection for the Olympics. The athlete did not meet the qualification standards at the Bahamas Championships in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke.

On June 14, Efimova received neutral status to participate in the Olympics. The Russian woman is a six-time world champion. She also won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and two silver medals at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.
