In addition to 45-year-old Datsyuk, hockey players Jeremy Roenick, Shea Weber, Chrissy Wendell-Paul and Natalie Darwitz are inducted into the Hall of Fame. In addition, functionaries David Poile and Colin Campbell got there.
On June 20, Datsyuk was named a leading candidate for inclusion in the Hall of Fame. Another former Russian hockey player Alexander Mogilny was also considered a favorite.
Datsyuk left for the National Hockey League (NHL) in 2001. Throughout his overseas career, he defended the colors of the Detroit Red Wings. The Russian played for the club until 2016, during which time he helped Detroit win the Stanley Cup twice. He was a four-time NHL All-Star. In total, Datsyuk played 953 matches in the league, in which he scored 918 points (314 goals scored and 604 assists).
Together with the Russian team, Datsyuk won at the Olympic Games and the World Championships. In addition, he won the Gagarin Cup as part of St. Petersburg SKA.
