Ukraine presented, this Tuesday, the uniform that its athletes will wear during the Paris Olympic Games, which represents an important moment for the country invaded by Russia in February 2022 and which lost hundreds of athletes on the front line.
Presented by athletes who will participate in this summer’s Olympic Games in the French capital, the uniform reproduces the yellow and blue of the Ukrainian flag.
Some of the clothing also shows two of Ukraine’s national symbols, such as the wheat and the trident. Others have the word “victory” embroidered on them.

“When (the athletes) wear the uniforms during the opening ceremony (on July 26), all of Ukraine will applaud them. This moment will show the whole world that we survived,” Vadym Gutzeit, president of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, told journalists. .
According to Ukrainian Sports Minister Matvii Bidny, more than three thousand Ukrainian athletes have fought on the front lines of the conflict since February 2022, and 479 of them have lost their lives in the war.
The country lobbied for Russian and Belarusian athletes to be excluded from Paris-2024, but the International Olympic Committee (IOC) ended up deciding to accept some of them under a neutral flag.
