Spain beats Albania and confirms 100% success in Group B of the European Championship

Spain faced Albania on Monday afternoon and won 1-0, in the third and final round of Group B of the European Championship. The match was held at the Merkur Spiel-Arena and Ferran Torres scored the only goal.

Already ranked first in the group before the duel, Spain confirmed its 100% success rate. The setback eliminated Brazilian coach Sylvinho’s Albania from the European Championship, with one point from three games.

Spain waits for the group stage to end before meeting its opponent in the round of 16. The team will face an opponent that ranked third among groups A, D, E and F.

The game

Spain had most of the actions in the first half. After just 12 minutes, Dani Olmo passed to Ferran Torres, who came in front of goal and finished past the goalkeeper to open the scoring. With an advantage on the scoreboard, the Spanish managed the duel and did not suffer any major scares.

The Spanish team was scary again in the final part of the first stage. At 40, after a cross from Grimaldo, Ferran Torres headed wide. The ball passed close to the post. At 43, on another cross from Grimaldo, Merino appeared free in the area, but shot out.

Spain also did not take any major risks in the second half of the match. With a minute left, Joselu tried a bicycle kick after a cross from Grimaldo. At 18, in Albania’s best chance, the ball fell to Broja, who shot hard after a free kick and forced goalkeeper Raya to make a great save.
