Figure skater Gallyamov: The Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement are two different things

Russian figure skater Alexander Gallyamov, who performs in tandem with Anastasia Mishina, wrote an open letter to the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach. It is posted on the athlete’s Telegram channel.

Gallyamov said that for him the Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement are two different things, since competitions have ceased to bring him joy, but the movement still inspires him. “I would like to wish that the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games always look in the same direction,” he emphasized.

On January 30, the International Skating Union decided to redistribute the team tournament medals due to the disqualification and cancellation of the results of Kamila Valieva. The Russian team (Mark Kondratyuk, Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov, Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov) lost their victory and moved from first to third place, gold went to the USA, silver to Japan.

Gallyamov, paired with Mishina, became the bronze medalist of the 2022 Olympic Games in the team and individual tournaments. They also have victories at the World and European Championships.
