Hero in the Champions League, Joselu must leave Real Madrid

Striker Joselu is leaving Real Madrid and is expected to join Al Gharafa, from Qatar, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. The 34-year-old Spanish athlete was the hero of the Merengue club’s qualification to the Champions League final.

According to the source, coach Carlo Ancelotti would like to keep the center forward who was on loan from Espanyol in the squad. However, Joselu chose to face a new challenge in Qatar.

Last season, number 14 was the third player who scored the most goals on the team (18), behind only Vinicius Júnior (24) and Jude Bellingham (23). Even though he was a substitute, he scored more goals than Brazilian Rodrygo (17).

The athlete’s greatest moment was the return of the Champions League semi-final, in the comeback victory over Bayern Munich 2-1, at the Santiago Bernebéu. Joselu came on in the 36th minute of the second half, when Real Madrid were losing 1-0 and being eliminated, and scored the two decisive goals in the Real Madrid team’s qualification for the final of the competition.

Despite Joselu’s departure, Real Madrid are well suited for the position, as Kylian Mbappé, ex-PSG, and Endrick, who has already left Palmeiras, will reinforce the team next season.
