Footballer Varga, who suffered a head injury, will miss the remaining matches of Euro 2024
Hungarian national football team striker Barnabas Varga will miss the remaining matches of Euro 2024. The team’s head coach, Marco Rossi, told L’Equipe about this.
“Barnabas was unconscious, his teammates were very worried because the doctors didn’t show up for a long time and they didn’t understand what was wrong with him. He’s out of danger now. He has a fracture under his left eye. He will have surgery,” Rossi said.
Varga received a head injury in the match of the third round of the Euro group stage against Scotland. In the 70th minute, the forward collided with Scots goalkeeper Angus Gunn. The player was carried off the field on a stretcher with an oxygen mask on.
Hungary defeated Scotland 1:0 and finished third in Group A with three points. The team has a chance to qualify for the playoffs; the full list of participants in the 1/8 finals will be known after the end of the group stage.
